Opera in the Pines invites you to a special evening marking our five-year anniversary with A Masked Ball for Ellen Chickering. Set in 1895 New England and sung in English, this intimate performance honors Ellen Chickering, whose love of music inspired a generation of Maine singers — and the founding of our company. The evening will conclude with a celebration of her life and legacy, led by her former students, colleagues, and friends. As we all know, Ellen passed during the height of the pandemic, and we were unable to say good. It is time.

Because seating for this evening is extremely limited, we kindly ask that tickets be purchased only for those named on the invitation. If your envelope is addressed to one person, only one ticket may be purchased. If both members of a couple are explicitly named on the invitation, please contact info@operainthepines.org for assistance with purchasing your tickets. Ellen’s impact reached far beyond any single room. Everyone who knew and loved her could fill a football stadium. This gathering, however, is intentionally small and intimate, and we appreciate your understanding in honoring these limitations.

If your plans change after reserving a ticket and you’re unable to attend, please let us know as soon as possible so we may arrange a refund or alternative. Every seat is precious, and releasing unused tickets allows others the chance to be part of this special evening.
