Founded by three Maine-raised singers, Opera in the Pines is an alternative opera company committed to reinventing the opera experience. We strive to provide other Maine based artists with the opportunity to showcase their talents, utilize unconventional spaces, and create intimate performance experiences for both seasoned opera lovers and new audiences alike.

The mission of Opera in the Pines is to enrich Maine communities with high-quality musical experiences through unique operatic productions, educational programs, and other opera-related activities, regardless of age, awareness, or background.

Opera in the Pines introduced their inaugural season in 2022 with two sold-out performances of The Diary of Anne Frank, in collaboration with the Maine Jewish Museum, which went on to be named the third prize winner of The American Prize in Opera Performance, Professional Division. In the 2023 season, Opera in the Pines presented a sold-out run of Bar Crawl Bohème, an immersive, community-focused adaptation of the operatic classic at Maine Beer Company, Three of Strong Spirits, and Oyster River Winegrowers. Most recently, Opera in the Pines produced their most ambitious production to date: a sold-out, critically acclaimed reimagining of The Crucible at The Old Red Church in Standish.
