To our local artists:

Opera in the Pines is presenting our production of Bar Crawl Bohème at Maine Beer Company, Three of Strong Spirits and Oyster River Winegrowers next month! La bohème is an opera that features various scenes in the lives of struggling artists. In our version, that’s a poet, a painter, a musician, a philosopher, a photographer and a seamstress.

Marcello, our resident painter of the Bohemians, is a rugged house painter in his 30s, living in Portland, Maine. He enters the opera carrying a paint bucket and brushes, a cloth stained with paint over his shoulder. His day job is painting houses, any random painting gig he can get, but his true passion is a little more artistic. There’s an easel set up in the apartment where he immediately goes after work. And what is on that easel, you ask? That’s where we’d like you to come in!

We’d love to feature your painting on the easel that will be the focal point of our set in Act I and IV. In addition, you’ll be included in our digital program, on our website and social media, in our email newsletter, receive two complimentary tickets to the performance of your choice, and there may be an opportunity for you to sell your art at our venue on the night of the performance. Our easel will be adjustable for canvas sizes 16x20 and 18x24. All content welcomed, but we love a good Maine theme… it’s kind of our thing.

For consideration, submit your work to operainthepines@gmail.com by Monday, April 24!
